Children are not vessels to be filled, but lamps to be lit.
Swami Chinmayananda
The Chinmaya Mission, an inspiring endeavour initiated by the venerable Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda in 1951, sought to perpetuate his legacy by disseminating the Vedantic principles of peace and happiness to the contemporary world. Swami ji diligently pursued this objective for over four decades as a distinguished ascetic of modern India. Presently, the mission encompasses 77 Chinmaya Vidyalayas and 8 Chinmaya Colleges, which provide a unique educational experience. Each of these institutions operates in accordance with the meticulously crafted Chinmaya Vision Program, characterized by a thorough academic framework. The underlying premise of this educational initiative is to equip children with a true perception of life, empowering them to confront challenges with a positive and dynamic disposition. It aims to enhance all facets of their development, encompassing the physical, mental, intellectual, and spiritual realms. Through this profound educational schema, the mission fosters good health, proper growth, and emotional equilibrium in children while facilitating their self-discovery of the innate divinity within. Advancing with such a remarkable vision, the Chinmaya Institutions have thus far educated over a million students in the past six decades.
The term ‘Chinmaya’ signifies ‘authentic knowledge’. At Chinmaya, we are dedicated to providing children with a value-based and holistic education that fosters the comprehensive development of their physical, mental, intellectual, and spiritual dimensions, enriched by an understanding of Indian culture, a sense of patriotism, and a global perspective. As the venerable Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda ji articulated, “Do not merely invest in the child, but also invest for the child.” The phrase ‘investment on’ yields external prosperity, while ‘investment in’ cultivates inner growth and enduring success.
“True education constitutes ‘investment on’ complemented by ‘investment in’ the child. Education extends beyond mere information; it embodies the essence of transformation.”
Dr. Sunil Dhand himself was once a boarder, molded by his experiences at Military School Dholpur (Formerly known as King George’s School and now named Rashtriya Military School). As a remarkable blend of boarder and medical professional, he possesses a profound awareness and empathy regarding children’s education, upholding the highest standards and ethics. His unwavering efforts are directed towards nurturing positive and healthy mindsets in children—emotionally, physically, and mentally. After 26 years in the field of education, he is now embarking on the mission of integrating Vedic education into the school.

The significance of education in India is deeply entrenched in our historical legacy. The ethos of our nation is contingent upon a robust educational framework that has facilitated the emergence of exemplary intellects, now dispersed across the globe. At Chinmaya Vidyalaya, we are resolutely committed to an educational approach that harmonizes the intellect, emotion, and practical skills of our students. It brings me great pleasure to acknowledge our pioneering efforts in integrating essential elements of Vedic Education into our academic curriculum, thereby enriching the experiences of both learners and educators alike.
To foster the comprehensive development of each child, we boast an exceptionally qualified faculty dedicated to nurturing the various modalities through which a student learns, evolves, comprehends, and flourishes. An admirable student-teacher ratio significantly enhances the rapport between educator and pupil—an essential aspect of our boarding environment. Our hostels serve as true sanctuaries for students, providing a nurturing setting conducive to personal growth in the most favorable manner.
We are committed to cultivating a spirit of camaraderie and mutual appreciation, where teachers and students jointly celebrate festivals with warmth and unity. The management and teaching community actively strive to equip students for the complexities of life. Our aspiration is to shape individuals who are not only well-informed but also deeply anchored in Indian tradition and culture. I extend an invitation for you to visit our campus and afford your child an experience that will contribute to a life that is invigorating, meaningful, and ultimately successful.
