Educationist
Mrs, Alka Jakhar is a renowned educationist and has contributed immensely in the field of education for the last 32 years. She is a postgraduate in Economics and has contributed to many publications including ‘Reflections of a Soldier’. Belonging to a family of Army officers, education was a natural choice, especially when the husband is away on the Nation’s Border. Starting as a teacher in a secondary school in 1987, she has to her credit, teaching in the Army Public Schools at various locations and served in various prestigious positions: Administrator of 9 Army Goodwill Schools in Kupwara, J&K; Principal of Army Public School in Jaurian, J&K; Principal of RDPS, Krishan Vihar. She also started a new Primary School in the border areas of Akhnoor, J&K, which is still remembered with gratitude by the local villagers as an example of service to humanity and the Nation.
As an Educationist, Mrs. Jakhar leads the students at Chinmaya Vidyalaya towards the building responsible and effective citizens to take India to become a powerful nation.
Ex Principal
Mr. R. K. Sethi is a renowned educationist. He completed his MSc (Hons) from Punjab University, Chandigarh. And then started his journey with DAV Organisation as a Lecturer and then took over the prestigious position as Principal for many years. His career with them spanned over 37 years wherein he also wore the hat of an education consultant. He has played an instrumental role in developing the Public School System of Education in DAV Public Schools. He is life member of DAV College Trust & Management Society, New Delhi. Mr. Sethi is also a renowned author of 21 books in Science & Chemistry which are being taught in schools. For the last 10 years he is working as Honorary Treasurer in DAV College Managing Committee.
Mr, Sethi is our key mentor to continuously review our curriculum and extra-curricular activities in the school to ensure holistic development of the child and help maintain the highest educational standards.

Dr, Satish Chadha is presently working as Clinical Lead for the Diabetic Eye Screening program in Northamptonshire County, UK, apart from practising as an Ophthalmologist . He is also on the National panel of Public health England for nationwide EQA visits to other screening programs. Besides being a medical practitioner, Dr, Chadha has an interest in NLP, CBT and well-being and personal development of a human being. Addressing his interest, he completed courses on the personal development from Anthony Robbins Mastery University (USA) and CBT from the University of Birmingham. He is an active certified Master Practitioner and INLPTA certified NLP trainer regularly conducting workshops and courses across the Northamptonshire County in UK and in India.
Dr, Chadha being a professionally trained mentor and a certified Mindfulness teacher, works with the school in developing the Vedic Mind training that Chinmaya boarding school follows to ensure a wholesome mind and body development of the children. He also overlooks the mental health and counselling department of the school.
Heamatologist
Oncologist (Ohio, USA)
Dr. Poornima Sharma is a heamatologist oncologist . Dr. Sharma received her MBBS at Lady Hardinge Medical College, University of Delhi, India. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at NYU Downtown Hospital, New York. Subsequently, Dr. Sharma completed her fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at University of Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr, Sharma works as a senior medical consultant at Tate Cancer Center, UM Baltimore-Washington Medical Center and Clinical assistant professor, University of Maryland, USA.
Dr. Sharma helps bring the awareness of world-class health practices and rituals one should follow in life, which in turn helps Chinmaya school to inculcate these values into the education system.
Ex-Mayor, Delhi
Born in 1928 to an Arya Samaji family in Lahore, a reformist’s sentiments came naturally to her. Early in her childhood, Mrs, Arya developed a keen interest in reading about Indian culture, heritage, and ongoing national freedom struggle and went on to become a scholar of Hindi language as well as an expert of Vedas and Vedantas. Very early in her life she had decided to devote all her time and energy to the cause of women and the downtrodden. She founded the Arya Kanya Gurukul, Rajinder Nagar for women education and even served on the managing committee of various colleges of the Delhi University. Seeing her relentless fight for restoration of fundamental rights during the infamous emergency years was a glimpse of the untapped potential of Nari shakti in our country. Given her leadership and an astute understanding of the societal dynamics she made the perfect candidate for the municipal elections in Delhi. Having had a landslide victory in the same, she embarked upon a journey in the politics of the nation and became the Mayor of Delhi in the year 1997. She is one of the most humble, honest and hardworking mayors that Delhi has seen who worked day and night to become an idol for the party.
Mrs. Arya is the guiding light for the students at Chinmaya Vidyalaya towards Leadership and Women empowerment. Given her deep knowledge and years of research on the Vedas and Vedantas, she plays a pivotal role in developing the Vedic Mind training curriculum for the school.
Retired Major General
Major General Sudhir Jakhar got commissioned into the Rajput Regiment of the Indian Army in 1979. He has been an integral part of operations starting from Op Blue Star to Op Rakshak in Punjab, Op Pawan in Sri Lanka, Op Vijay, Op Rakshak and Op Parakaram in J&K. In his career of 37 years, he has been in command of the battalion in an active insurgency area and LOC in J&K. His assignments include being the instructor in the National Defence Academy, GSO 1 in Military Operations Directorate, Colonel Military Secretary, Instructor in the Army War College, Deputy Director General – Canteen Services, Interviewing Officer of SSB, Chief of Staff of Desert Corps, and ADG of NCC J&K. He has been decorated with the Chief of Army Staff commendation on 2 occasions and the Army Commander’s commendation on 3 occasions. He conducts programs for aspiring candidates for SSB and also Defence and Education related seminars in universities.
Major General Jakhar is instrumental in mentoring the school to develop policies around discipline & decorum. He is the mentor and guide for children who aspire to be a part of the defence forces of India. He also overlooks the National Cadet Corps (NCC) wing of Chinmaya boarding school.
